Creating a Winning Video: Judging Criteria

Understanding & Application of Principle (40%)

Demonstrate through the video how you understand and interpret our investing principles!

Identify ONE principle most relevant to you, and show how you would apply it in the way you manage your money. Do feature one key investing principle per video to facilitate the judging process. If you/your team finds it relevant to include other principles, please feel free to do so, however judges will only assess your video based on the principle you identified upfront.

PRO-TIP

#1: Refer to The GIC DNA: Our 5 investing principles or check out our Instagram account for ideas on how the principles can be applied.

#2: Consider the challenges or issues you currently face with your own money management (e.g. lack of planning for longer-term needs, spending without saving, difficulty in budgeting, etc). Which of the principles might be helpful or relevant in helping you overcome the challenge?

Creativity & Storytelling (35%)

Unleash your creativity with an original video that will inspire through stories and help students your age tackle money management challenges.

PRO-TIP

Here are some questions to guide you:

#1: What stories can I use from my own experience or from others to illustrate the investing principle?

#2: How can I tell the story creatively and impactfully through a video?

#3: How can the story resonate with, and inspire others to action?

Production Quality (15%)

Judges will look out for the following technical elements:

  • Effective use of visual and audio effects
  • Camerawork / filming quality
  • Video editing quality
  • Overall production value and execution

Public Voting (10%)

Shortlisted entries that fulfil the technical requirements will make it to this round, where the public will be invited to vote for videos that they find most creative and appealing.
